Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra men's lacrosse team will close out the home portion of its 2022 schedule this Saturday when the Pride welcomes Massachusetts for a Colonial Athletic Association contest.

Hofstra suffered a 10-7 home loss to Drexel last Saturday, putting them at 5-8 overall and 1-2 in the CAA as the season winds down. Seven Hofstra players finished with one goal, while
Gerard Kane and
Sam Lutfi each dished out one assist to finish the game with two points.
Mac Gates finished with 15 saves against the Dragons, his 11th game this season with double-digit saves and the fourth time he recorded at least 15 saves in a game this season.
Kane and
Dylan McIntosh are tied for the team-lead in scoring with 19 goals, while Kane's 13 assists has him leading the team with 32 points. Meanwhile,
Rory Jones has posted 16 goals and seven assists for 23 points while shuffling between attack and midfield, and McIntosh has 21 points on 19 goals and two assists to sit in a tie for third on the team with
Matt Elder, who has 12 assists and nine goals.
Bryan McIntosh caused two turnovers on Saturday, keeping him among the top takeaway defensemen in Division I with 40 caused turnovers and 2.77 takeaways per game. Gates has been a steady presence between the pipes for Hofstra, as the redshirt junior ranks first in the CAA in Goals-Against Average (10.56) and save percentage (.540).
Sitting at 6-5 overall and 1-2 in the conference, the Minutemen lost their second consecutive game this past Saturday, a 16-13 result at home against Fairfield. Picked to finish third in the CAA Preseason Poll, Massachusetts is led by Kevin Tobin with 35 points on 19 goals and 16 assists, while Gabriel Procyk paces the team with 21 goals, and Logan Liljeberg's 17 assists tops the roster. Returning All-CAA First Team goalkeeper Matt Knote ranks behind Gates in Goals-Against Average (11.00) and save percentage (.531).
Hofstra is 22-26 all-time against Massachusetts, and split the season series with the Minutemen in 2021; Massachusetts won 16-10 over Hofstra on March 30 before the Pride earned a 12-11 win over the Minutemen on April 9.
