Hempstead, NY - For the second time this season, Gerard Kane has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week, in an announcement by the conference office Monday afternoon. Kane was previously honored as the CAA Rookie of the Week on February 14 following his four-goal outing against Sacred Heart.

A sophomore from Suwanee, Georgia, Kane posted career-highs for points and assists with six and five, respectively, while adding a goal and a pair of ground balls in Hofstra's 10-9 overtime loss to Providence on Saturday. Kane's five assists are tied for the single-game high by a CAA player in 2022, and he ties the mark for points and assists in a game by a Hofstra player this season set by Matt Elder against Sacred Heart.

The attackman, who extended his streak of consecutive games with at least one point to seven against the Friars, bested his previous high of four assists against LIU on February 25, and finished with his sixth multi-point game of the season.

Hofstra opens its CAA schedule on Saturday, April 2, at 1 p.m. on the road against Fairfield.
