Hempstead, NY - The 2022 season of Hofstra men's lacrosse officially begins this Saturday, February 5, when the Pride welcomes Merrimack to James M. Shuart Stadium at 12 p.m.

Seth Tierney return for his 16th season in charge. Tierney and the Pride welcome back 2021 All-CAA First Team honoree and 2022 Preseason All-CAA selection
Brian Herber as one of five team captains. Herber was one of the top face-off specialists in the country last season, ranking seventh nationally in face-off winning percentage (.636) and ground balls per game (7.93) while adding a goal and an assist for the Pride. With 20 goals in 14 games,
James Philbin is the team's top-returning scorer from last season, while CAA All-Rookie Team selection
Justin Sykes (12 G, 5 A) and
Dylan McIntosh (10 G, 2 A) bolster the offense with their return. In defense,
Tom Ford finished last season second on the team in caused turnovers with 11, and
Mac Gates recorded three wins in four starts between the pipes in 2021.
Saturday will mark the first-ever competitive game between Hofstra and Merrimack in men's lacrosse. The Warriors are in their third year of transitioning to Division I competition from the Division II level, where they were the Division II national champions in 2018. Merrimack finished the 2021 season 5-5 overall and 4-4 in the NEC, and welcomes back leading scorer Jack Rooney, who finished last season with 25 goals and 34 points.
