Hempstead, NY - A member of the Hofstra men's lacrosse team picked up a second consecutive Colonial Athletic Association weekly award, as Gerard Kane was named the CAA Rookie of the Week in an announcement by the conference office today.

Kane joins Rory Jones as the second straight Hofstra student-athlete to receive men's lacrosse Rookie of the Week honors from the CAA.

A sophomore from Suwanee, Georgia, Kane made the first start of his collegiate career for Hofstra in Saturday's contest against Sacred Heart and he led the team with four goals in the Pride's 21-9 win over the Pioneers. Kane finished the day with six total shots, five on goal, and one ground ball.

Kane and the Pride are back in action this Friday, February 18, at 6 p.m. against Navy.
