Hempstead, NY – The Colonial Athletic Association announced its postseason honors Thursday afternoon, and three members of the Hofstra field hockey team -
Cami Larsson,
Lieke Gorsse, and
Jamie Mc Millan - received All-CAA honors.
A graduate student midfielder, Larsson was named to the All-CAA First Team following a 2022 season that saw the Cordoba, Argentina native finish with her third-highest points, goals, and assists in a season at Hofstra. A 17-game starter, Larsson tallied 13 points on five goals and three assists for the Pride, including a two-goal outing against Yale and a three-point performance with a goal and an assist against Bryant. This is the first All-CAA First Team honor for Larsson, who had been named All-CAA Second Team four times in her collegiate career and was named to the All-Rookie Team in 2018.
Gorsse, a sophomore midfielder from Goes, The Netherlands, finished second on the team with 12 points, scoring four goals while dishing out four assists. Gorsse posted a career-best five points against Delaware, scoring twice and assisting once against the Fightin' Blue Hens. Gorsse picks up the second postseason CAA honor of her Hofstra career, after being named to the CAA All-Rookie Team in 2021.
A freshman defender from Krefeld, Germany, Mc Millan led the team with 1,048 minutes played as a 17-game starter, and as she was a key component of a Hofstra defense that ranked second in the conference in goals allowed per game (27) and goals against average (1.52). Mc Millan also finished second in the CAA with three defensive saves, and she recorded her first collegiate point on an assist against Bryant.
In addition to the All-CAA teams, the CAA announced its 2022 major award winners. Annick van Lange of Monmouth was named the Offensive Player of the Year, while Delaware's Julia Duffhuis repeated as Defensive Player of the Year. Monmouth's Phileine Hazen and Northeastern's Emmy Stubbs were named Co-Rookies of the Year, and Carli Figlio of Monmouth was the Coach of the Year recipient.
