Hofstra Places Six On Academic All-District Squad

Hofstra's six Academic All-District Team selections

Hempstead, NY - The 2022 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Named to the team from Hofstra are Roc Carles,Hendrik Hebbeker, Pierce Infuso, Stefan Mason, Wessel Speel, and Joe Wright.

Carles, a junior midfielder has a 3.97 grade point average as a finance major and on the field, the team tri-captain, has chipped in with three assists. He was a Third Team All-Colonial Athletic Association pick this season.

Hebbeker, a 2021 First Team Academic All-District and All-American, repeated on the team after tallying two goals and three assists in 2022. The senior midfielder has a 3.98 grade point average as a mathematics and physics major.

Infuso, a junior, makes his first appearance on the team after compiling a 3.73 grade point average as a finance major and anchoring a Hofstra defense that allows less than one goal per game. He was named to the All-CAA Second Team.

Mason, a tri-captain, is also making a second consecutive appearance on the Academic All-District team. A senior defender/midfielder, Mason has a 3.85 grade point average as a finance major. He has one assist and has been instrumental in Hofstra's defensive efforts this season.

Speel is a repeat selection in 2022 as well, also posting a 3.85 grade point average in finance. The junior netminder and Third Team All-CAA selection has 42 saves and a 0.96 goals against average this season.

Wright, a senior midfielder, owns a 3.91 grade point average as a management major. He has contributed one assist this season.

Hofstra is 14-3-3 on the season, won the CAA Championship and will play South Florida tonight in the NCAA First Round.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
