Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University men's soccer team will host Elon in a battle for first place in the Colonial Athletic Association Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. The Pride and the Phoenix are tied atop the CAA standings at 4-1-1 (13 points). Hofstra and Elon are ranked second and third, respectively, in the United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region Poll.

Hofstra, which is receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll, comes into the game riding a four-game winning streak and a nine-game unbeaten streak. Eliot Goldthorp had a goal and two assists to pace the offense while
Wessel Speel made two saves in goal. Goldthorp leads the nation in scoring with 27 points on 11 goals and five assists.Â
Elon enters the game 7-3-2 overall and 4-1-1 in league play. The Phoenix is coming off a 0-0 draw last Saturday against William & Mary. Mason Duval leads the Elon offense with five goals and 10 points. Ryan Bilichuk has a 0.50 goals against average.
Hofstra is 7-0-1 all-time against Elon. The Pride defeated the Phoenix in their last meeting, 3-2, to win the 2021 CAA Championship.Â
