Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University senior forward Matthew Vowinkel and senior defender George O'Malley have been named to the 2020-21 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Men's Scholar All-Region team, it was announced by the organization. The pair are making their second consecutive appearance on the squad.

Vowinkel adds his second scholar all-region accolade to his resume after compiling a 3.45 overall GPA as a finance major. The New Hyde Park, New York, native enjoyed another stellar season in 2020-21, leading the Pride with 6 goals, 5 assists, and 17 points in 10 games. Vowinkel was a First Team All-Colonial Athletic Association pick for the second consecutive season and ranked second in the league in assists and third in goals and points.

O'Malley, who was a team co-captain, earns the honor after compiling a 3.62 cumulative grade point average as a marketing major. The Harrow, England, native was an All-CAA First Team selection after anchoring the Hofstra defensive unit and adding a goal and two assists. O'Malley was also a CAA Men's Soccer Championship All-Tournament Team selection for the third consecutive season after helping the Pride to the CAA Finals in 2020-21.

Hofstra finished the 2020-21 campaign with a 5-2-3 record and won the CAA North Division with a 2-0-2 CAA mark.
