Tierney continues his torrid start to the season as he ranks third in the nation in goals per game (4.43) and is fourth in the country in total goals scored (31), while he ranks tied for sixth in points per game (6.00) and is ninth nationally in total points scored (42). Graduate student
Justin Lynskey only adds to the potent Hofstra offense with 26 points on 14 goals and a team-leading 12 assists. Senior
James Philbin has tallied nine points on eight goals and one assist after finding the back of the net for the sixth consecutive game against Towson. By going 90-143 (.650 face-off percentage) and scooping up, Herber has Hofstra ranked sixth in the country in face-off winning percentage. In net,
Bobby Casey has put up 30 saves, a .500 save percentage and a 10.00 GAA in the last three games for Hofstra.
At 3-2 overall and 3-1 in the conference, Massachusetts received the No. 19 ranking in the latest USILA poll following a 12-11 loss to Drexel on Saturday. The Minutemen are led on offense by Devin Spencer with 19 points on five goals and 14 assists, while Gabriel Procyk leads Massachusetts in scoring with 14 goals. In net for the Minutemen will be Matt Knote, who has recorded 51 saves, a .553 save percentage, and a GAA of 10.20 in five games.
Hofstra is 21-26 all-time against Massachusetts, and dropped the previous meeting between them this season, a 16-10 contest on March 30 from James M. Shuart Stadium.
