Hempstead, NY - Following a stellar performance in goal for Hofstra in a draw versus Delaware, freshman goalkeeper Wessel Speel has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week. It is Speel's first CAA weekly accolade of the season.

The Utrecht, The Netherlands, native stopped all six shots he faced this past Friday evening in a 0-0 draw against the Blue Hens. He matched his season-high with six saves, with three in regulation and three more in the two overtime periods.

Speel lowered his goals against average to 1.07 with his second career shutout as he helped the Pride move to 3-2-2 on the season.

Hofstra will return to action on April 10 at Northeastern in the regular season finale for both teams.
