WBB: Hofstra to Close Out Regular Season With Two Meetings Against Northeastern

Hempstead, N.Y. – After a 28-day layoff due to schedule postponements from COVID-19, the Hofstra women's basketball team is ready to return to the floor for two more Colonial Athletic Association contests against Northeastern. Hofstra will take on the Huskies on the road on February 28 at 2 p.m. before returning to the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex on Tuesday, March 2 at 5 p.m. Tuesday's contest will also serve as Senior Day, where Hofstra will celebrate its two seniors, Mikiyah Croskey and Mie Hoff.
 
Both games will be streamed live on FloHoops.com. In addition, Pride Productions Live Audio courtesy of WRHU will be available for both contests, and live statistics will also be available.
 
Hofstra faced Northeastern twice this season back on January 7 and 9. Hofstra won the opening contest in Boston, 68-57 before suffering a narrow 54-53 decision at the Mack Sports Complex in the second game of the series.
 
Hofstra had a strong defensive showing against Northeastern in the opening contest as the Pride tallied 13 steals and five blocks. During that contest, junior guard JaKayla Brown led Hofstra with 23 points, while junior guard Jahsyni Knight finished with 13 points and redshirt junior forward Jaylen Hines added 10. In the follow-up meeting, Hines paced Hofstra with 19 points and 11 rebounds, her second double-double of the season, while redshirt junior Jaala Henry added 12 points for the Pride.
 
Hofstra enters the weekend with a 6-10 overall record while standing at 4-6 in the CAA. Brown is Hofstra's top scorer with 16.3 points per game which is also fourth in the conference. Hines follows with 14.4 points per game (and a team-high 7.6 rebounds per game), while Knight rounds out the top-three Hofstra scorers with 8.4 points per contest.
 
Northeastern (6-11, 5-9 CAA), has played 11-straight games since facing a postponement. Most recently, the Huskies traveled to UNCW and won both contests, 63-52 and 78-58. Stella Clark leads Northeastern with 14.9 points per game, while Mide Oriyomi has 11.7 points per game and Kendall Currence follows with 9.9. Oriyomi led Northeastern in both contests against Hofstra as she tallied 17 points in the first contest and 16 in the second.
 
This will be the 50th and 51st meetings between the two teams. Northeastern leads the all-time series, 26-23.
 
These games are closed to the public and no tickets will be sold.
