WSOC: Three Earn Major CAA Awards, Six Named to All-Conference Teams

Richmond, Va. - Following another tremendous regular season by the Hofstra University women's soccer team, three student-athletes picked up major Colonial Athletic Association awards while a total of six garnered All-CAA recognition.
 
Hofstra's high-powered offense was recognized by the CAA coaches, as forward Miri Taylor earned CAA Attacking Player of the Year accolades and fifth-year midfielder Lucy Porter earned her third-straight CAA Midfielder of the Year honor. Freshman midfielder Georgia Brown was tabbed the CAA Rookie of the Year as well.
 
In addition to the major awards, Taylor, Porter, junior defender Anja Suttner, and fifth-year midfielder Jordan Littleboy collected first team all-conference honors, while Brown and fifth-year forward Lucy Shepherd were named to the second team. Brown also landed a spot on the CAA All-Rookie team. Hofstra earned CAA Attacking Player of the Year and Midfielder of the Year honors for the third-consecutive season while Brown is Hofstra's third Rookie of the Year in the last four seasons.
 
Taylor is in the midst of a remarkable senior campaign, leading the CAA and ranking third nationally with 15 goals in 2021. In addition, she has 10 assists this fall and 40 points, which is currently tied for the Hofstra single-season program record. Taylor's 40 points currently ranks second in the nation and is the highest total by any CAA player in the last 13 seasons. Recently, the Gillingham, England, native became Hofstra's all-time leader in assists, as she has since extended that record to 30 for her career. Taylor has recorded at least one point in 15-of-17 matches for the Pride this year, including a season-high five in Hofstra's commanding win over Yale earlier this season.
 
Porter, the back-to-back-to-back CAA Midfielder of the Year, played a pivotal role for the Pride this fall with six goals and 11 assists for 23 points. Of her 11 assists, nine came in the month of October, while five of her six goals have been scored in her last three outings. The Birmingham, England, native ranks ninth nationally with 0.69 assists per game and 11th in total assists.
 
Brown, a two-time CAA Rookie of the Week, has scored six goals and added an assist for 13 points this fall to provide incredible depth to the Hofstra midfield. In addition, Brown, who hails from Oxford, England, leads the Pride with four game-winning goals, which is tied for the second-highest total in the CAA.
 
Littleboy, a midfielder from Watford, England, picks up her third All-CAA honor in the last three seasons, elevating her status from third team in 2019 to second team last spring to first team this season. Littleboy has racked up four assists in 2021, ranking fourth on the team. Littleboy assisted on the game-winning goal in Hofstra's win over #22 Princeton this season, propelling the Pride to its second win over a ranked opponent in program history.
 
Suttner, a defender from Bodenkirchen, Germany, racks up her third All-CAA first team honor in as many years after another tremendous season leading Hofstra's back line. Suttner has helped the Pride to 11 shutouts this season, allowing opponents just 0.50 goals per contest. In addition, Suttner has anchored a back line that allows opponents just 6.2 chances per outing.
 
Shepherd is another three-time All-CAA honoree who is having another incredible season for the Hofstra women's soccer program. Shepherd has six goals and 10 assists this season, ranking third on the team with 22 points. Shepherd also has three game-winning goals this year, and was instrumental in giving Hofstra a decisive season-opening win over Stony Brook with her first career hat-trick (three goals) and one assists for a career-high seven points.
 
The CAA Women's Soccer Championship, presented by Primis, will begin Thursday in Elon, North Carolina. Top-seeded UNCW faces Northeastern at 4 p.m. with Hofstra and James Madison to follow at 7:30 p.m. Both Thursday semifinals and Sunday's final can be seen on FloFC.
