Manheim, PA - A pair of Hofstra wrestlers topped their weight class pools, with sophomore Justin Hoyle winning the 141 'D' pool and redshirt senior Zachary Knighton-Ward placing first in the 285 'B' pool, as the Hofstra wrestling team competed at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic from the Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Manheim, Pennsylvania.

Wrestlers representing 18 collegiate programs across all three NCAA divisions were divided into groups of up to four wrestlers, with each pool comprising wrestlers of similar skill level and experience. Each wrestler was guaranteed at least two matches, with the winners of each group advancing to the pool's championship round.

Hoyle opened the action with a 16-4 major decision win over VMI's Frederick Junko before pinning Sacred Heart's Luke Sherry at 2:16 of the match to top his group. In the championship match, Hoyle squared off with Bloomsburg's Aaron Coleman, and the sophomore used a three-point third period to win by 6-5 decision and take home first place in the 'D' pool.

Knighton-Ward started his day with an 18-6 major decision win over Timothy Nagosky of LIU before earning a win over Army West Point's Brandon Phillips by 5-3 decision. Knighton-Ward never trailed his opponent in his championship match, and won by 10-6 decision to take gold in the 'B' pool over Penn's Ben Goldin.

Senior Charles Small earned silver in the 184 'A' pool. Ranked No. 27 by InterMat, Small earned a 5-1 decision win in sudden victory overtime over Sahm Aabdulrazzaq of Army West Point before suffering a 5-3 overtime defeat to Penn's Neil Antrassin. Advancing to the championship match on margin of victory in his group, Small squared off against Brad Laughlin, the No. 31 InterMat wrestler from Army West Point, but lost a close 3-2 decision.

Sophomore Michael Leandrou continued the strong start to his Hofstra career with a second-place finish in the 149 'E' pool. Leandrou picked up a 13-6 decision win over Bloomsburg's Marcanthony Molino and a 16-0 tech fall at 2:15 over Sacred Heart's Calum Price to advance to the final. In the championship match against Lock Haven's Connor Eck, Leandrou was pinned at 2:28, earning him silver in his second competition in a Hofstra singlet.

Freshman Joe McGinty made it three Hofstra grapplers with silver medals as he took second in the 157 'E' pool. The Monroe, New York-native scored a 10-4 decision win over Harvard's Cael Berg to start his day, and he followed that up with a win by fall at 3:44 over Sacred Heart's Jeremy Espinal. McGinty advanced to the chapionship match, where he would lose by a tight 3-2 decision to Kenneth Kiser of Army West Point.

Redshirt senior Ricky Stamm placed third in the 165 'A' pool. He opened his day with a come-from-behind win by fall at 6:14 against unattached Connor Herceg, who won in the previous meeting at the Clarion Open. Stamm was then beaten by 9-5 decision against Penn's Lucas Revano in his next match, and his opponent in the third-place match forfeited.

In the 184 'D' pool, freshman James Watterson shrugged off a pair of defeats in his group to earn a win in the fifth-place match. The native of West Hempstead earned a 16-1 tech fall win at the 5:00 mark of his match against Sacred Heart's Michael Molino.

The Pride will open its dual schedule on November 27 against Rutgers and Wisconsin at the Garden State Grapple from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
