Four Placewinners For Hofstra; Pride Place 10th At EIWA Championships

Will Conlon, Chase Liardi, Alex Turley, Gauge Shipp
Washington, DC - Gauge Shipp, Chase Liardi, and Will Conlon placed sixth at their respective weights, while Alex Turley placed seventh at 149 pounds as the 2026 EIWA Wrestling Championships concluded at American University's Bender Arena Saturday. The Pride placed 10th overall with 35.5 points. 

Shipp, the fifth seed at 133 pounds, had to medically forfeit his consolation semifinal and fifth-place matches to take sixth. It was his first place finish at the EIWA Championships. 

Liardi, the 10th seed at 141 pounds, dropped a pair of 5-1 decisions to place sixth. He lost to fourth-seeded and No. 28/27 Dylan Chappell of Bucknell in the consolation semifinals and to fifth seeded Bryce Kresho of Franklin & Marshall in the fifth place bout. This marked Liardi's initial place finish at the conference championship as well. 

Conlon also became a first-time place winner after taking sixth place at 197 pounds. Seeded seventh, Conlon lost his consolation semifinal match to Navy's Zyan Hall (4 seed, 31st ranked) by an 8-3 decision and then suffered a tech fall loss to third seeded and 27th-ranked Wolfgang Frable of Army West Point in the fifth-place match.  

Turley placed for the first time as well, taking seventh at 149 pounds. The ninth seed avenged his opening round loss to Franklin & Marshall's Pat Phillips (8 seed) with a 9-6 sudden victory decision in the seventh place match. Turley tied the match at six with a takedown with 36 seconds to go and then scored the decisive takedown 32 seconds into overtime.
