Hempstead, NY - With the final spot in the Colonial Athletic Association Championship on the line, the Hofstra field hockey team heads north to Massachusetts for a 4 p.m. game against Northeastern on Friday, October 29.

7-10 on the year and 1-4 in the CAA, the Pride will be looking to rebound following a 6-1 defeat at Yale this past Sunday.
Lieke Gorsse scored Hofstra's lone goal, while
Cecelia DeSimone and
Merlijn van der Vegt combined for six saves against the Bulldogs.
Eline Oldeman continues to lead the Pride on the year with 17 points on seven goals and two assists, putting her at the top of the CAA standings in goals and points scored by a freshman.
Djuna Slort and
Karissa Hough have been the top distributors for the team in 2021 with five assists each, while
Simryn Desai has produced four assists as a freshman. van der Vegt has answered the call many times this year, as the junior goalkeeper has posted a 1.96 goals against average, 81 saves, and a .711 save percentage.
Sitting at 5-11 overall and 2-3 in the conference, Northeastern joins Hofstra and Drexel (5-13, 2-3 CAA) in the fight for the fourth and final spot in the CAA Championship. #23 James Madison (10-6, 5-0 CAA), #21 Delaware (9-7, 4-1 CAA) and William & Mary (3-11, 3-2 CAA) have already clinched three spots in the four-team tournament.
Two-time NFHCA All-Region First Team honoree Lauren Rowe leads the Huskies into Friday's fixture, as the senior midfielder leads the team with nine goals and eight assists for 17 points, and she ranks second in the CAA in goals and points. Mak Graves has also been a top contributor for the Huskies this season with seven goals, while four other Northeastern players have scored multiple goals this season.
Friday's game will mark the 26th meeting between Hofstra and Northeastern. The Pride is 7-19 all-time against Northeastern, including last season's 3-1 loss to the Huskies. The last time Hofstra traveled to Dedham Field was the final game of the 2019 season, a 4-3 overtime victory for the Pride.
