MLAX: Ryan Tierney To Return In 2020-21

Hempstead, NY - In light of the NCAA Division I Council's vote on Monday to allow schools to provide spring-sport student-athletes an additional season of competition and an extension of their period of eligibility, Pride senior Ryan Tierney has announced today that he will return to campus in the fall and compete as a member of the Pride during the 2020-21 academic year. 

"We are thrilled that Ryan has decided to return to Hofstra in 2020-21," commented Hofstra Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Seth Tierney. "Ryan has had a wonderful experience at Hofstra and with our men's lacrosse program and we look forward to another year of him in blue and gold. As his head coach and father, I am overjoyed that I get another opportunity to coach him next season."

Tierney finished the 2020 season leading the team with 35 points, 21 goals, and 14 assists, and ranking second in the Colonial Athletic Association in points per game (5.00) and fourth in goals per game (3.00). He also added 11 ground balls and four caused turnovers to his totals in 2020.

He ranks third all-time in goals at Hofstra with 121, one shy of Jay Card (2008-11) for second, and ranks fifth all-time in points at Hofstra with 186. Tierney ranks tied for fifth all-time in the Colonial Athletic Association in goals scored and tied for fourth all-time in points scored.
