Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's lacrosse team will get the 2020 season underway on Saturday when the Pride hosts Wagner. 

Opening face-off from James M. Shuart Stadium is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Hofstra has a ton of excitement brewing for the start of the 2020 season as the Pride returns nearly 90% of its scoring from a season ago, including senior Ryan Tierney who posted 42 goals and 13 assists for 55 points in 2019. 

Coach Tierney has a slew of talented players to assist this season as several have earned preseason accolades coming into the year. Junior Brian Herber, the Pride's top face-off specialist, picked up preseason All-Colonial Athletic Association honors from both Inside Lacrosse and the Colonial Athletic Association, while senior Eric Wenz was on the preseason Inside Lacrosse All-CAA Team and senior Michael Altmann earned preseason recognition from the conference. Tierney garnered a spot on both teams and was named the CAA Preseason Player of the Year by Inside Lacrosse. 

The Pride won five games a season ago. 

Wagner went 2-12 in 2019

This is the first-ever meeting between Hofstra and Wagner in men's lacrosse.
