Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University baseball team heads west to Reno, Nevada, for two games against the Wolfpack of the University of Nevada and two against Wichita State University. The Pride will play both schools on Friday and Saturday at Don Weir Field at Peccole Park. This will be Hofstra's first meeting with both schools.
Hofstra will face Wichita State at 11 a.m. local time (2 p.m. EST) Friday before taking on the hosts at 3 p.m. local time (6 p.m. EST). On Saturday, the Pride will meet Nevada at 12 p.m. local time (3 p.m. EST) and close out the weekend with a 4 p.m. (7 p.m. EST) game against Wichita State.
Hofstra (1-6) has dropped five consecutive games going into the weekend. The Pride is coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of La Salle in Philadelphia. The Pride lost game one, 4-3, after the Explorers rallied from a 3-0 deficit, scoring the final two runs in the ninth inning to snag the victory. Hofstra lost game two, 14-3. In the finale,
Ryan Rue allowed just two runs over six innings but the Hofstra offense was kept in check in a 2-0 loss.
Anthony D'Onofrio and
Austin Gauthier continue to lead the Hofstra offense with D'Onofrio batting at a .519 clip with eight RBIs. Gauthier, who has a pair of leadoff home runs, is batting .462 with four doubles, 11 runs and six RBIs.

Nevada is 0-6 on the year and will be making their home debut against the Pride. The Wolfpack has three losses at Portland and three at Oregon. Wichita State is 6-2 on the year and has won five consecutive games including a 2-1 win over Kansas State this past Wednesday.
Hofstra will start
Steven Boscia (0-1) in the opening game against Wichita State. He will be opposed by Jake Hamilton (1-1).
Jimmy Joyce (0-2) will get the ball Friday against Nevada while Owen Sharts (0-1) will start for Nevada.
Ryan Rue (0-1) will start one of the games on Saturday with the Pride's second starter to be determined. Nevada will throw Jake Jackson (0-2) Saturday and Wichita State will send Liam Eddy (1-0) to the mound. Â
