Hempstead, NY – Hofstra Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Seth Tierney has been selected to the Long Island Metro Lacrosse Hall of Fame. It was announced by the Long Island Metro Lacrosse Foundation on Thursday.

"It's a tremendous honor to be inducted into the Long Island Metro Lacrosse Hall of Fame," said Coach Tierney. "I'm very humbled to be among some terrific lacrosse players and lacrosse advocates Long Island has to offer."

Tierney is in his 14th year as head coach of the Pride after being named the fifth head coach in Hofstra men's lacrosse history in August 2006. A total of 14 Hofstra student-athletes have received United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-America honors under Tierney's guidance and a further 65 student-athletes have received all-conference honors. Tierney first joined Hofstra in 1995 as an assistant coach and was a member of the coaching staff for five years. During that time, Hofstra appeared in four NCAA Tournaments and won five conference championships.

After his first stay at Hofstra, Tierney became an assistant coach at Johns Hopkins from 2000-04 before serving as the associate head coach from 2004-06. Under Tierney, the Blue Jays were regularly one of the highest-scoring offenses in Division I. During their 2005 national title run, Johns Hopkins finished sixth in the country in scoring offense. A total of 21 Blue Jay midfielders and attackmen earned USILA All-America honors under Tierney at Johns Hopkins.

In 2015, Tierney was named an assistant coach to Team USA for the 2018 FIL World Lacrosse championship in Tel Aviv, Israel. In Israel, Team USA went undefeated in group play with a +60 goal differential before winning 9-8 over Canada in the Gold Medal Game. Tierney, who continues to serve as an assistant coach with Team USA, is also the Chairman of the Advisory Board and the Director of Competition for the Premier Lacrosse League since its inception in 2019.

After a four-year playing career with Johns Hopkins that saw him appear in four NCAA Tournaments and hold the position of captain in 1991, Tierney played professionally with the New York Saints of the Major Indoor Lacrosse League (now National Lacrosse League) for three seasons before transitioning into his coaching career.
