Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Field Hockey team will wrap up their six game home stand to open the season on Monday, September 16 when the Pride host the Bobcats of Quinnipiac University at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium. Game time is 3 p.m.

In addition to the win over Sacred Heart, the Pride has losses to Wagner (3-0), 17th-ranked Saint Joseph's (9-1), Monmouth (6-0), and Vermont (1-0). Goalie van der Vegt, who missed the first two games of the season with an injury, started the past three games and has been outstanding. The Dutch newcomer has 24 saves and a 3.11 goals against average, and a .750 save percentage in her three games.
The Bobcats of Quinnipiac are 1-3 on the season with a win over Sacred Heart, 2-0, on Saturday and losses to California (5-1), UC Davis (1-0) and Stanford (4-1). In the Bobcats latest contest against Sacred Heart, Bianka Strubbe and Eva Veldhorst tallied the Quinnipiac goals. Strubbe and Jess Halley lead the Bobcats with one goal and one assist each. Veldhorst and Olivia Howard each have one goal. Goalie Hedda Ratjen-Bierman has a 1.03 goals against average and a .875 save percentage in 116 minutes of action this season including the shutout of Sacred Heart.
Hofstra is 13-2 in the all-time series against Quinnipiac. The two teams last met at Hofstra in 2017 with the Pride winning, 4-2.
After the Quinnipiac game, Hofstra will hit the road for the first time this season on Friday, September 20 when the Pride face Bryant University at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Game time is 4 p.m.
