9/12/2019 4:26:00 PM

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University men's soccer team returns to action Saturday afternoon when it travels to Colonial Athletic Association rival College of Charleston for a 1 p.m. contest at Patriots Point. The game will be the last of four consecutive contests away from home for the Pride.

The game will be live streamed and live statistics will also be available. Links for both can be found above or on the men's soccer schedule page at GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra enters the game with a 2-2 overall record and a 0-1 mark in CAA play. The Pride is coming off a 0-2 weekend at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott JMU Invitational. Hofstra dropped a 2-0 decision to James Madison last Friday night and then came up on the short end of a 4-3 score against No. 10 Virginia Tech. The Hokies scored the game-winning goal in the 84th minute.

Alex Ashton has been solid in net with 16 saves and a 1.50 goals against average. Freshman Frederik Rieper leads Hofstra in scoring with two goals in the early going, while Hendrik Hebbeker, Petter Soelberg, and Storm Strongin have recorded the Pride's other goals. Adam Savill, Jesse Schleeper, Jason Ramirez, and George O'Malley have each tallied assists.

The Cougars are 1-2-1 on the year and will be playing their CAA opener. Charleston is coming off a 0-0 draw against Radford last Sunday. Tucker Heffron has scored the only goal for the Cougars this season, while Akshat Singh has an assist. Isaac Alstrom has a 0.71 goals against average and 14 saves on the year.

Hofstra is 3-1-2 all-time versus Charleston. The teams met last October 27 in Hempstead with the Pride taking a 2-0 victory behind first half goals from Luke Brown and Storm Strongin.

Following the game, Hofstra will return home and host Stony Brook on Wednesday, September 18 in the Long Island Rivalry presented by The Greene Turtle. Game time at Hofstra Soccer Stadium is 7 p.m.
