Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University Baseball team, winners of six consecutive games, will look to continue their outstanding play this weekend when it opens a Colonial Athletic Association series against James Madison on Friday. Game time at Veterans Memorial Park is set for 6 p.m. The series continues Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Pride's six-game winning streak, which includes four straight wins in CAA play, has vaulted the squad into a tie for fourth place in the league standings at the midway point of the season. Hofstra (12-24, 5-7 CAA) swept UNCW last weekend for the first time in program history, using a ninth-inning comeback capped by Rob Weissheier's three-run home run to post a 9-8 victory in the series finale. Hofstra is coming off a 4-1 win at Manhattan Tuesday night. Alex Sica had an RBI double and Jimmy Joyce added a solo home run to back five Pride pitchers. Steven Boscia threw three scoreless frames to get the win and improve to 3-0 on the year while Daniel Page notched his fourth save. Michael James, Matt Siedem, and Seamus Brazill also logged innings for the Pride in the game.

James Madison is 23-18 on the season and 4-8 in league play. The Dukes had a five-game winning streak snapped Wednesday night at Virginia in a 2-1 loss. The Dukes had last weekend off from CAA play. In their last conference weekend (April 12-14), the Dukes took two of three from William & Mary on the road. James Madison is the top pitching team in the CAA with a 3.71 ERA. The Dukes rank fifth in the league in batting.

Hofstra will start Jack Jett (0-2) in the series opener Friday, while Ryan Rue (2-4) will get the ball Saturday evening. James Madison will counter with Kevin Kelly (5-5) Friday and Nick Stewart (4-3) Saturday. Both teams have not decided on a Sunday starter.

Hofstra is 13-36 all-time versus James Madison. The Dukes took two of three in Hempstead last season. Hofstra is 6-19 all-time in Harrisonburg.
