Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra University Baseball team will host its first Colonial Athletic Association series of the 2019 season this weekend when it welcomes Towson to University Field for three games beginning Friday at 3 p.m. The series continues Saturday and Sunday with 1 p.m. start times.

Hofstra enters the weekend with a 6-22 record overall and 1-5 in the CAA. The Pride split a pair of mid-week non-conference games leading into the series, defeating Monmouth 4-1 Tuesday before dropping a 9-7 decision to Fairfield on Wednesday. In the Monmouth game,

Austin Pollack had a 3-4 day at the plate with a home run and three runs scored. Pollack would add two doubles and a pair of stolen bases in Wednesday's loss while

Friscia leads the Pride with a .283 average, five home runs, and 14 RBIs.
Rob Weissheier is batting .277 with two home runs and 13 RBIs.
Ryan Rue has a 1-3 record on the mound with a 4.49 ERA.
Andrew Mundy has two saves and a 3.57 ERA.
Towson, which is coming off an 8-3 win over George Mason Wednesday, enters the weekend at 5-26 overall and 1-5 in the CAA. The Tigers are led by Colin Conroy's .288 average. Javon Fields is batting ,272 with five doubles, three triples, and 10 stolen bases. Gavin Weyman and Josh Seils each have 1-5 records on the mound, while John Cranston has a 2.16 ERA and one save in 15 relief appearances.
Hofstra is 32-55 all-time against Towson. The Tigers have won five consecutive series against the Pride and took two of three in each of the last two seasons.
The Pride is 2-2 at home in 2019 while Towson is 1-17 on the road.
