Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Men's Lacrosse team will play its fourth Top 20 opponent of the young season this Saturday, March 9 when the Pride host the ninth-ranked Buckeyes of Ohio State at James M. Shuart Stadium. Game time is 12 p.m.

th-ranked Georgetown at Shuart Stadium last Saturday. After splitting the first two goals, the Hoyas went on a 10-3 run to open up an 11-4 lead in the third quarter. Hofstra was led by junior
Ryan Tierney with three goals while freshmen
Sterlyn Ardrey and
Whit Stopak, and sophomore
Keegan Santos scored the other Pride goals.
The Pride is led in scoring by Tierney with 14 goals and two assists while Stopak now has six goals and no assists. Sophomore
James Philbin has four goals and one assist while classmate
Riley Forte has two goals and three assists. Sophomore goalie
Bobby Casey has a 9.55 goals against average with 50 saves and a .510 save percentage.
The ninth-ranked Buckeyes of Ohio State are one of three undefeated teams remaining in Division I with a 5-0 record this season. CAA-rival Towson (4-0) and Cornell (3-0) are the other two. The Buckeyes have wins over Cleveland State (12-9), Boston University (17-10), UMass (11-7), Bucknell (16-13) and, most recently, Marquette (13-9) in Dallas, Texas last Saturday. In that game, sophomore Jackson Reid tallied five goals, junior Tre Leclaire added three and junior Ryan Terefenko chipped in with two goals to lead the Buckeyes. Sophomore Josh Kirson made eight saves to record his fourth win of the year.
Ohio State is led by senior Jack Jasinski with 14 goals and seven assists. Leclaire has a team-high 16 goals and two assists while freshman Jack Myers has contributed nine goals and a team-high nine assists in four games. Reid has tallied 10 goals and three assists in five games. Kirson has a 9.28 goals against average with 55 saves and a .579 save percentage in five games this season.
Hofstra and Ohio State will be meeting for the seventh time on Saturday with the Pride holding a 4-2 series lead. The two teams met last in 2018 in Columbus with the Buckeyes posting a 9-7 victory over Hofstra in the Pride season opener. Hofstra and Ohio State last met on Long Island in 2016 with Hofstra defeating the 20
th-ranked Buckeyes, 8-5 on March 12, 2016.
The Hofstra-Ohio State contest is part of another big Saturday men's and women's lacrosse doubleheader at Shuart Stadium as the Hofstra Women's Lacrosse team will take on 10
th-ranked Johns Hopkins following the men's game at 3 p.m. The Hofstra Men's and Women's Lacrosse teams will be utilizing special USA-themed equipment this weekend as part of both program's "Military Appreciation Day". Hofstra is offering free tickets for this lacrosse doubleheader to all veterans, active military, and military families. Military tickets can also be picked up at the box office at Shuart Stadium on game day with a valid military ID.
Following the Ohio State contest, the Pride will continue with their five-game homestand with game four on Tuesday, March 12 against the Red Storm of St. John's at Shuart Stadium. Game time is 7 p.m.
