BB: Hofstra Opens CAA Slate Friday At Charleston

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University Baseball team opens Colonial Athletic Association play Friday evening when it begins a three-game series at College of Charleston. Game time at the Ballpark at Patriots Point is set for 6 p.m. The series continues Saturday at 2 p.m. and concludes Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Pride enter the series with a 3-15 record and is on a four-game losing streak. Hofstra is coming off a tough 3-2 loss in 10 innings at Monmouth on Friday.

Charleston is 16-10 overall this season and 1-2 in CAA play after opening against Elon last weekend. The Cougars have won two consecutive games and are coming off a 9-7 victory over Charleston Southern Wednesday night.

Hofstra is 8-13 versus Charleston. The Pride swept the Cougars last season in Hempstead and has won seven of the last nine meetings dating back to 2016.

The Pride will start its usual weekend rotation of Michael James, Ryan Rue, and Jack Jett. The Cougars will counter with Griffin McLarty on Friday and Tradd James on Saturday. Charleston's Sunday starter is still to be determined.

Hofstra is 8-9 in CAA openers since joining the league in 2002 and has won two in a row. The Pride defeated UNCW, 5-3, in their conference opener last season and Charleston, 2-1, in 2017.
