Hempstead, NY - Hofstra Women's Lacrosse junior Darcie Smith has been named the GoHofstra.com Student-Athlete of the Week, it was announced today. 

Arguably the Pride's best all-around player this season, Darcie Smith was exceptional on defense and in the draw circle in Hofstra's 11-4 win over Sacred Heart on Saturday. 

Smith posted four ground balls and three caused turnovers, while also completely taking control of the game with 12 draw controls as the Pride won 13 of 17 draw controls contested in the game. She tied her career-high in caused turnovers and draw controls in the game and she was second on the team in ground balls. 

This season she leads Hofstra in draw controls (64), ground balls (21) and caused turnovers (15). She also has seven points on six goals and one assist. Her 64 draw controls is already third in a single season in program history.
