Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra women's lacrosse team picked up a pair of awards in the final week of the regular season as Nikki Mennella earned the CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week Award, while Brighid Smith was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week.

For Mennella, this marks her fourth CAA honor of the regular season as she has earned the CAA Offensive Player of the Week Award on April 27, April 13, March 30, and February 16.

This is the first CAA honor for Smith.

Mennella added another outstanding game to her resume in the Pride's regular season finale on Saturday.

Mennella totaled eight points on five goals and three assists, while also posting a game-high six draw controls in Hofstra's 15-2 win over William & Mary.

The hat trick was Mennella's eighth this season and 29th of her career. In addition, it marks the sixth game of at least five goals this season and the 15th time in her career. She also has five-plus points for the ninth time this year and 27th time in her career.

The eight points moved her into second place all-time in scoring at Hofstra with 254 points. She passed Brittain Altomare, who had 247 from 2012 to 2015. The 59 goals so far this season are the third most in a season, and her 84 points are also good for third in a single season.

Mennella also moved into the top 10 on the single-season draw control chart as she now has 64 to rank ninth.

Smith had one of the best games of her career on Saturday in the Pride's regular-season finale win over William & Mary.

Smith totaled six ground balls and four caused turnovers in the win to help the Pride to the dominant victory over the Tribe.

Both totals were good for game-high honors and also marked new career-highs for the second-year player.

Previously, Smith had four ground balls on a pair of occasions, most recently against Manhattan earlier this season. She previously had a career-high two caused turnovers at Campbell last month.

Smith helped the Pride to a 16-13 advantage in ground balls and a 10-7 advantage in caused turnovers.
