Dylan Ryder has been named the GoHofstra.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, February 3. It is Ryder's second GoHofstra.com Student-Athlete of the Week honor this year.
Ryder, a native of Dix Hills, New York, recorded two more victories on the season in the two Pride matches last Saturday. He is now 21-9 on the season and 13-2 in dual matches. Ryder has a 10-match winning streak.
Last weekend, Ryder recorded his fourth technical fall of the year with a 17-0 victory at the 6:41 mark over Columbia's Joe Manchio in New York City. Six hours later in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Ryder defeated Franklin and Marshall's Jose Diaz, 11-4 to start the Pride on their way to a 19-12 victory over the Diplomats.
Ryder is the first Hofstra true freshman to record 20 wins in a season since
Sage Heller recorded 23 wins in 2016-17. He was named the GoHofstra.com Student-Athlete of the Week after two victories on December 10 after posting victories over Northern Colorado and VMI.
Ryder and the Pride return to action on Saturday, February 9 when Hofstra travels to Connecticut to face the Pioneers of Sacred Heart at 7 p.m.
