Hempstead, NY – Two Hofstra alums, Steve DeNapoli '11 and
Jack Concannon '18, are among the 27 players who were named to the United States men's national team for the 2019 Fall Classic from October 18-20 at the US Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Maryland.
Both DeNapoli, a short-stick defensive midfielder, and Concannon, a goalie, played on the Atlas team in the Premier Lacrosse League this summer. DeNapoli played in seven regular season games and two playoff contests and recorded two assists, six ground balls and one caused turnover. DeNapoli was named to the 2018 U.S. National Team for the FIL World Championships in Israel but suffered a knee injury and did not get to play.
Concannon played in 10 regular season contests and two playoff games. During the regular season he recorded a 13.0 goals against average with 138 saves for a .534 save percentage. He made 23 saves for a .511 save percentage and allowed 23 goals in the two playoff appearances. Concannon was on the U.S. roster for the 2018 Fall Classic
The 2019 Fall Classic begins on Friday, October 18 against rival, Canada, in the first meeting between the two countries in field lacrosse since the U.S. pulled off a thrilling 9-8 last-second victory in the 2018 FIL World Championship game.
The U.S. team will also play reigning NCAA champion Virginia on October 19 and will wrap up the weekend with an exhibition game against Canada on October 20 using the trial rules developed by World Lacrosse.
