Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University men's soccer team returns to action after a week off when it hosts Delaware Saturday night at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. The game is the first of a regular season-ending four-game homestand for the Pride. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Hofstra (6-6-1, 3-2-1 CAA) is coming off a 3-1 win at conference rival William & Mary last Saturday night. The Pride scored twice in the final 11 minutes to snap a 1-1 tie.
Jesse Schleeper's first career goal proved to be the game-winner with
George O'Malley and
Petter Soelberg notching the Pride's other scores.
Alex Ashton had three saves in goal for Hofstra.
Delaware enters the game with a record of 2-7-3 overall and 1-3-2 in league action. The Blue Hens have lost four consecutive games and are coming off a 5-1 loss at William & Mary this past Tuesday.
Hofstra is 19-12-1 all-time versus Delaware and has won five consecutive meetings.
The Pride will also be celebrating Alumni Night and will honor the 1985 East Coast Conference championship team at halftime. That team, coached by Tom Lang, defeated Delaware 1-0 in eight overtimes to win the ECC title.
The game will be live streamed on FloSports.tv. A live audio broadcast by WRHU-FM (88.7) and live statistics will be available as well. Links for all can be found above or on the men's soccer schedule page on GoHofstra.com.
Following Saturday's game, the Pride will be back in action Tuesday night (7 p.m.) at home against Binghamton.
