BB: Red Hot Hofstra Heads To Fordham Tuesday

4/30/2018 12:18:00 PM

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University Baseball team puts its seven-game win streak on the line Tuesday night when it travels to Fordham University for a 7 p.m. matchup at Houlihan Park.

The game will be available to stream online via the A-10 Network. Live statistics will also be available. Links for both can be found above or on the schedule page of GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra is coming off a three-game sweep at William & Mary and is 21-15 on the season.  John Rooney continued his masterful season with a complete game shutout in a 1-0 win Friday night, while Matt Weissheier turned in a solid start Saturday, throwing six innings of 1-run ball in a 7-3 win. Rob Weissheier hit a grand slam and Steven Foster had a double and a home run to spark the offense. Foster's double was his 200thcareer hit, making him just the ninth player in program history to reach that milestone. In Sunday's 9-6 win the Pride built a 9-3 lead before holding off a ninth-inning rally from the Tribe. Vinnie Costello hit a three-run home run and Teddy Cillis pitched five strong innings out of the pen to pick up his second win of the year.

Fordham is 27-14-1 on the season and has won four straight games after sweeping Saint Joseph's on the road this past weekend. Billy Godrick leads the Rams at the plate with a .296 average and has added five home runs, 24 RBIs and 21 stolen bases. Justin Bardwell is bating .291 with 16 doubles and 28 RBIs, while Jake MacKenzie leads the Rams with eight home runs, 39 RBIs and 24 stolen bases.  As a team, Fordham has stolen 134 bases. The Fordham pitching staff has compiled a 3.60 ERA with 11 different pitchers picking up at least one victory. Ben Greenberg and Anthony DiMeglio are both 6-1 on the year, while Kyle Martin is 2-2 with seven saves and a 2.08 ERA.

Hofstra is 24-30 all-time versus Fordham and the Rams have won each of the last three meetings. The Pride lost last year's game, 7-4, on a three-run pinch-hit home run from Jake Baker in the ninth inning.

Following the Fordham game, Hofstra will return home to host CAA-leading Northeastern in a three-game series beginning Friday afternoon.
