MSOC: Hofstra Returns To Action Saturday At Elon

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra Men's Soccer team will play at Elon Saturday night and attempt to snap a two-game losing streak. Game time at Rudd Field is scheduled for 7 p.m. 
 
The visit to Elon marks the Pride's second trip this season as the Hofstra-UNCW game was played there due to Hurricane Florence. Hofstra enters the game 6-5-3 overall and 3-2-1 in Colonial Athletic Association play. Hofstra has dropped its last two games including a 2-0 loss to James Madison last Saturday. Matthew Vowinkel continues to lead the Pride in scoring with six goals. Luke Brown has three goals and an assists, while Alex Ashton has a 0.96 goals against average and 48 saves in net.
 
Elon is 4-7-2 on the season and 1-4-1 in league action. The Phoenix picked up their first CAA win last Saturday with a 2-0 victory at Charleston and then played to a 0-0 draw at Appalachian State this past Wednesday night.  Inigo Bronte is the primary offensive threat for Elon as he has six goals and an assist and is the only player with more than one goal on the season. Jack Willbye has three assists to lead the team, while Matthew Jeiger has compiled a 1.26 goals against average and 31 saves in goal. 
 
Hofstra is 3-0-1 all-time versus Elon. The teams tied last season, 1-1.

The Pride will play a non-conference game Tuesday at Brown at 7 p.m., before returning home for the CAA and home finale against Charleston on Oct. 27 at 1 p.m.
