The Pride (19-17, 7-4 CAA) extended its win streak to five games with a 6-2 victory over local rival Stony Brook on Wednesday. With the game tied 2-2 heading into the sixth inning, junior
Brittany Allocca walked with the bases loaded to drive in the winning run before classmate
Nikki Michalowski smacked a three-run double.
Junior
Megan Patierno got the Pride on the board in the fourth inning with her seventh of the season, tying her for the team lead with Allocca.
Kristin Hallam drove in Hofstra's second run with a sacrifice fly. The freshman was 2-for-3 on the day and now has seven hits over her past four games, moving into the team lead with a .320 batting average. Classmate
Sarah Cornell threw a season-high nine strikeouts in her 15th win of the year.
The Phoenix come into the weekend at 29-15 and 7-5 in Colonial Athletic Association play, sitting just behind Hofstra in the league standings at fourth place. Elon picked up a non-conference midweek win over UNCG, 7-2, after taking two of three in a CAA series with Towson last weekend.
Alaina Hall leads the Phoenix with a .392 batting average as one of three players batting over .300 and is the CAA leader with 56 hits. Carey Million's 44 RBIs top the team and the conference, while her six home runs are also a team best.
Elon's 2.62 team ERA ranks third in the CAA, led by Kiandra Mitchum's 2.12 mark. She's posted a 15-9 record in 168.2 innings pitched, striking out 154, good for second in the conference.
The Pride holds a 5-2 advantage in the all-time series over the Phoenix, including taking two of three in the series last season.
