Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Women's Cross Country team will wrap up its 2017 season on Friday when the Pride compete in the NCAA Division I Northeast Regional Championship at the Audubon Golf Course in Amherst, NY. The 6K regional championship begins at 11 a.m. and is hosted by the University at Buffalo.
The Hofstra Women are coming off an eighth-place finish at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships at Elon University on October 28. Pride junior
Felicia Banda finished in 14th place to lead the Hofstra. Banda, who has led the Pride in all four meets this season, recorded her second-best 6K time of the year with a 22:08 posting. Her time was just 10 seconds off the 12th-place runner for the final all-CAA honor.

Mahlah Givehand was Hofstra's second finisher placing 47th in 23:33 while sophomore
Kaylee Stebbins finished in 69th-place in 24:33. Junior
Alli Bacher finished 71st in 25:01 and classmate
Lusine Gazeryan rounded out the Pride's scoring runners in 75th place in 25:22. Freshman
Megan Boese placed 77th in 25:38.
Hofstra finished in eighth-place in the nine-team field with 220 points as James Madison ended William and Mary's streak of five consecutive CAA titles and 12 in the past 14 years by winning the team title with 26 points.
The 2017 NCAA Division I Women's Northeast Regional Championship race will feature 39 teams and 358 individual competitors. Providence, which is ranked first in the coaches poll and 10th in the NCAA Poll, and Columbia, which is ranked second in the region and 24th in the Northeast, are the favorites. Dartmouth and Syracuse, which are third and fourth in the Northeast, are also expected to challenge for the team title.
