Hempstead, NY – The streaking Hofstra Field Hockey team, winners in their last four contests, will prepare for the Colonial Athletic Association schedule that begins next week with two tough games against opposition from Connecticut.
The Pride will host the Stags of Fairfield on Friday, September 30 at 3:30 p.m. at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium before traveling to Yale University in New Haven on Sunday, October 2 to face the Quinnipiac Bobcats at 3 p.m.

Hofstra is coming off a three-win week with victories over Lafayette, 4-1 on Monday, September 19, at UMass Lowell, 4-3 on Friday, September 23 and St. Francis, 3-2 on Sunday, September 25 at Rutgers. The Pride was led by their senior class once again, as senior
Claudia Marin Samper tallied three goals and two assists in the three games to earn a share of the CAA Player of the Week award. Senior
Stella Schoen also added three goals and two assists while senior goalie
Lauren Saltus posted 18 saves in the three victories to improve to 5-1 on the season.
The Pride is second in the CAA in scoring averaging 3.37 goals per game. Marin Samper leads Hofstra and is first in the conference in assists (8) and second in goals (10) and points (28). Schoen is third in the CAA in points (19), fourth in assists (5) and fifth in goals (7). Sophomore
Madison Sauve is seventh in the CAA in goals with five. Saltus leads the conference in goals against average (1.30) and save percentage (.815), and is fifth in saves (44) in eight games.
In their two opponents this weekend, Hofstra will be facing teams that have battled many one goal decisions over the years. Fairfield and the Pride have had three consecutive one-goal decisions with Hofstra winning the last two years. Quinnipiac and Hofstra have split their last two contests but prior to that had three straight one goal decisions.
Fairfield enters the week with a 1-8 record on the season with a win over St. Louis (5-1) and losses to Lafayette (3-2), Iowa (4-1), American (4-2), California (3-1), Penn (2-1), Columbia (3-2), Holy Cross (4-3 in OT) and Virginia (4-0). The Stags average 1.89 goals per game and allow 3.11 per outing. Fairfield is led in scoring by senior Ann Burgoyne with team-highs of four goals, five assists and 13 points. Sophomore Emma Clark has added three goals while junior Jaclyn Gallagher and graduate-student Hannah Pike each have two goals and two assists. Senior Caitlin Bennett is the goalie for the Stags and has a 2.96 goals against average with 47 saves and a .627 save percentage in nine games.
Friday's game is 34th meeting between Hofstra and Fairfield with the Pride holding a 28-5 series advantage. Hofstra has won the last two games including last year's 3-2 decision on the road. The Pride also topped the Stags, 2-1 in overtime in 2014. Fairfield's last victory in the series came at home in Connecticut, 3-2 in 2013.
The Bobcats of Quinnipiac also enter the week with a 1-8 record heading into their Friday showdown at Villanova. The Bobcats have scored 13 goals in nine games (1.44 gpg) and allowed 26 goals (2.89 gpga). Quinnipiac has a win over Georgetown (4-2) and losses to Boston College (2-0), UMass Lowell (3-2), Central Michigan (2-1 in OT), Michigan State (4-1), Vermont (2-1), Lafayette (2-1), Bucknell (3-2 in OT) and Liberty (6-1). The Bobcats are led in scoring by graduate-student Savanna Reilly with five goals and one assist for 11 points. Junior Felicia Costanzo has added two goals and one assist while Michelle Federico has chipped in two goals. Freshman Olivia Golini has started all nine games for the Bobcats and has a 2.62 goals against average with 40 saves and a .656 save percentage.
Sunday's game is the 14th meeting between Hofstra and Quinnipiac. The Pride hold an 11-2 series advantage. The two teams met last season in Hempstead with Hofstra posting a 6-3 victory over the Bobcats. Quinnipiac defeated Hofstra, 4-2 at home in 2014.
