Felicia Banda placed 87th to lead the Hofstra Women's Cross Country team to a 13th-place team finish at the University of Virginia Panorama Farms Invitational Friday morning.
Banda, making her first appearance of the season, clocked a time of 19:28 in the 5K race to give the Pride 72 team points. Junior
Emily McLean-Loughlin was Hofstra's second finisher, placing 99th (76 points) in 19:41 while graduate-student
Lily Mayko was 102nd in 19:51 for 77 points. Sophomore
Mahlah Givehand was 106th in 20:00 for 79 points while freshman
Kaylee Stebbins posted a time of 20:21 to place 113th (84 points).
Junior Regan Rome, from CAA member William and Mary, was the women's individual champion, posting a time of 17:01. BYU, which placed all five of their scoring runners in the top 14, took home the team championship with 47 points. SMU was second with 89 points while Syracuse was third with 98 points. Hofstra finished with 388 points in the 13-team field.
The Hofstra team will return to action on Saturday, October 8 when the Pride will face Wagner, St. Peter's and the host Highlanders of New Jersey Institute of Technology in dual meets in the Highlander Challenge in Newark, New Jersey..
