Hofstra, which has won three of their last four outings, is 7-4 overall on the year. The Pride is coming off a 13-7 victory over the Blue Hens of Delaware at James M. Shuart Stadium last Saturday. The win evened the Pride's CAA record at 1-1 on the season after a 9-8, heartbreaking loss to Fairfield at home on April 2.
In Hofstra's last contest against Delaware, the Pride came on to the field ready for battle, scoring eight of the first nine goals on the way to an 8-2 lead at halftime. While the Blue Hens closed to with five at 11-6 early in the fourth quarter, junior
Zachary Franco and sophomore
Brendan Kavanagh sealed the game-if it wasn't settled at that point-with two man-up goals in the final 8:32.
Six Hofstra players tallied two goals led by Pride junior
Josh Byrne, who recorded two goals and tied his season-best with four assists. Kavanagh posted a career-high four points on two goals and two assists, tying his career-highs in both categories. Senior
Korey Hendrickson continued the best season of his career with two goals and one assist, giving him a career-high 21 goals with seven assists just two off tying his career-high of nine set in 2014. Classmate
Sam Llinares added two goals to give him 96 in his career and senior
Brian von Bargen and Franco each netted two goals. Junior
Trevor Kupecky chipped in one goal and two assists. Sophomore
Jack Concannon needed to make only seven saves to post his seventh win of the season.

Hofstra and Drexel, longtime rivals dating back to their East Coast Conference days in the 1980s, will be meeting for the 30th time in school history. Hofstra holds a 22-7 series lead after their 8-7 loss to the Dragons in Hempstead last season. Drexel has won the last two encounters and four of the last five meetings with the Pride. Hofstra is 2-3 in their last five games at Drexel but you can throw the home-field advantage out the window as each team has posted epic victories on the road over the past eight years. In 2008, Hofstra topped Drexel, 10-9 in the CAA Championship game in Philadelphia while in 2014 Drexel posted a dramatic 11-10, triple-overtime win over the Pride in the CAA title game in Hempstead.
Hofstra has victories over North Carolina (10-5), Princeton (11-10 in OT), NJIT (19-4), Ohio State (8-5), Vermont (13-12 in OT), St. John's (15-8) and Delaware (13-7). The Pride losses have come against Georgetown (11-6), Stony Brook (13-5), Providence (12-7) and Fairfield (9-8). Hofstra averages 10.45 goals per game and allows 8.73 per outing.
The Pride is led in scoring by
Josh Byrne, who has tallied team-highs of 24 goals, 13 assists and 37 points.
Sam Llinares has 20 goals for the third time in his career and now has 23 goals and seven assists. Senior Brian Von Bargen continues his great final season and now has career-highs of 23 goals and 28 points. Senior
Korey Hendrickson, who topped his previous best of four goals against Siena in 2014 with six against Fairfield on April 2, now has 21 goals and seven assists on the year.
Sophomore goalie
Jack Concannon, after making 16 saves in the loss to Fairfield to top the 15 he made in the win over Princeton earlier this season, now has an 8.82 goals against average with 127 saves and a .572 save percentage.
The Dragons of Drexel come into the weekend on a two-game losing skid following CAA losses at Towson (11-7) on April 2 and at Fairfield (8-7) last Saturday. Drexel, which averages 9.82 goals on offense and allows 10.18 on defense, is 4-7 on the season and 0-2 in conference action. The Dragons have wins over Saint Joseph's (10-9), Bryant (14-5), St. John's (13-4) and Mercer (12-5). Their losses have come against Virginia (14-7), Albany (20-14), Villanova (14-9), Maryland (12-8), Binghamton (10-7), Towson and Fairfield.
Â
Drexel is led by junior Cole Shafer with 19 goals and six assists. Freshman Matthew Varian has scored 16 goals and seven assists while junior Robert Frazee has tallied 17 goals and two assists in nine games. Classmate Joe Rainoldi and sophomore Will Manganiello have also posted double-digit goals with 14 and 11, respectively.
Â
Junior Jimmy Jo Granito has posted a 10.34 goals against average with 130 saves and a .539 save percentage in 11 games in the Drexel goal this season.
