WLAX: Hofstra Looks For First Win On Saturday Against Fairfield

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Women's Lacrosse team will look for its first win of the year on Saturday when it hosts Fairfield.

The game, which is part of a Hofstra Lacrosse doubleheader, will begin at 12 p.m. from James M. Shuart Stadium. The Hofstra Men's Lacrosse team will host Princeton in its home opener at 3 p.m.

With the game being part of a doubleheader, there is an admission charge for the women's lacrosse game this weekend. One ticket will gain fans access to both games of the doubleheader.

Fans can purchase tickets by visiting HofstraTickets.com, where it is now possible to print their tickets at home. In addition fans can also call (516) HOF-TIXX or visit the Hofstra Athletics Box Office in the Mack Sports Complex for more ticket information.

There will be Pride Productions live video of the game with links available on this page or via the women's lacrosse schedule page at GoHofstra.com. The Pride Productions audio only broadcast can also be heard via the portal and on the WRHU mobile app.

Both games of the doubleheader will air on the Lax Sports Network as well.

Hofstra is seeking its first victory of the 2016 campaign after opening the year with losses to New Hampshire and Harvard.

The Pride has been led early on this season by graduate attacker Lindsay Scott with team-highs of nine points on six goals and three assists. Freshman attacker Lexi Lenaghan is second on the team in scoring with five points on four goals and one assist.

In other areas, sophomore midfielder Shea McAvoy is tops with five ground balls, senior midfielder Becky Conto has a team-best seven draw controls and freshman defender Jenna Baverman has three caused turnovers.

Fairfield enters this week with a 1-1 record, having defeated LIU Brooklyn and falling to Boston University.

Alex Fehmel (6G, 1 A) and Riley Hellstein (6G) led the Stags in the win over LIU Brooklyn, while Julieanne Mascera posted a team-best three goals against Boston University.

Hofstra is 11-1 all-time against Fairfield and defeated the Stags, 9-5, in Connecticut last season.

Following this game, Hofstra will start a three-game stretch away from home as they will head to College Park, MD to face the defending National Champion, University of Maryland Terrapins.
