Hempstead, NY - Following a huge road win to stay unbeaten in conference play, a pair of Hofstra women's lacrosse players earned league honors this week as Nikki Mennella was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week and Luchianna Cardello earned the CAA Defensive Player of the Week Award. The honors were announced by the conference office this afternoon.

It is the second time Mennella has earned the award this season after receiving the award on February 16. It is also the second consecutive week the program has earned the offensive award.

In a career full of incredible performances, it was another spectacular outing for Mennella in the 13-10 road win over Towson on Saturday.

Mennella posted eight points on six goals and two assists, while also adding eight ground balls in the win to make the Pride 3-0 in league play.

For Mennella, it was the third time this season she has scored six or more goals in a game and the ninth time in her career. The eight draw controls tied her season high. Mennella's six goals tied her season-high, most recently achieved at Marist on February 26. The eight points also tied her season-high, also occurring at Marist. The eight draw controls tied her season-high, established at Campbell on March 22.

Mennella, who committed only one turnover in the contest, came up big when her team needed her the most. After Towson tied the score at seven midway through the third quarter, Mennella had a personal 3-0 run to make it 10-7 and give Hofstra the lead for good.

Cardello had a strong game once again for the Pride in the win over Towson.

Cardello posted 10 saves in the contest to allow the Pride to pick up the big CAA victory and keep Hofstra undefeated in conference action.

Cardello was huge when it mattered most as she made four of her saves in the fourth quarter to keep the Pride in front.

Cardello reached double figures in saves for the fourth time this season and the 19th time in her career.
