Hempstead, NY - During halftime of Sunday's men's basketball win over Northeastern, Hofstra Athletics honored 299 Hofstra University student-athletes and spirit support members for their academic achievements during the fall and spring semesters, including 29 who earned a perfect 4.0. During the Fall 2015 semester 209 student-athletes earned a 3.0 or higher GPA, a record number for an individual semester.
"We are incredibly proud of the work that the students in our athletic program along with the spirit support students continue to do in the classroom," commented Hofstra Vice President and Director of Athletics
Jeffrey A. Hathaway. "Sunday's men's basketball game was certainly a wonderful occasion to recognize these students so that the entire Hofstra community could celebrate their outstanding academic achievements. Everyone on the Hofstra campus should share in the pride and appreciation we have for these students."

We are also proud to announce that the 2014-15 academic year saw Hofstra student-athletes compile a record 3.24 average grade point average for the entire year. The volleyball team had the highest grade point average among all Hofstra varsity teams with a 3.59 GPA.
