Hempstead, N.Y. – The Colonial Athletic Association announced its postseason honors Thursday night with its annual awards show, and four members of Hofstra Women's Soccer were recognized.
Senior
Jill Mulholland was named to the All-CAA First Team and All-Academic Team, while classmate
Emily Agudelo earned a second-team nod, junior
Kristin Desmond was a third-team honoree and junior
Kelly Gerdes was named to the All-Rookie Team.
Mulholland put up staggering numbers in her final campaign, finishing the season with 13 goals and eight assists for 34 points, leading the CAA in nearly every statistical category. She cracked the program all-time top 10 in single-season goals, assists and points as well as career goals, assists and points, etching her name into the Hofstra record books and cementing her legacy with the Pride. In the classroom, the physical education and health major carries a 3.72 cumulative GPA.
Agudelo earned her second straight All-CAA nod after earning a spot on the third team last season. She was also voted to the Preseason All-CAA team this year. The stingy defender that posted three shutouts in the first four games of the season. In the final stretch of the season, when the team was fighting for a playoff spot, Agudelo came in clutch, setting up two goals in a big 4-1 win over James Madison and helping the Pride not allow a shot on goal in a shutout win over Towson in the season finale.
Desmond's third-team nod was her first All-CAA honor, as she helped lead the team offensively, finishing the season with six goals and two assists for 14 points, good for second on the team. She started all 18 games and played at least 80 minutes on 16 occasions. She posted two goals and an assist in a 5-2 win over UNC Greensboro before scoring in back-to-back wins over Fairleigh Dickinson and Fordham.
After missing her first two seasons due to injury, junior
Kelly Gerdes got her first taste of collegiate soccer action this season, becoming a key component of the Hofstra backline. Bringing a grittiness and solid consistency to the Pride defense, she started all 18 games and played fewer than 90 minutes just twice.
