Newark, NJ – The Hofstra Women's Cross Country team swept all three of their dual match-ups at the 2016 New Jersey Institute of Technology Highlander Challenge at Branch Brook Park Saturday morning.
On the women's side, sophomore
Mahlah Givehand placed first in the 5K meet in 18:53. Junior Emily Mclean-Loughlin was second overall posting a time of 18:54. Sophomore
Felicia Banda placed third overall in 18:55 while freshman
Kaylee Stebbins was fifth overall in 19:19. Graduate-student
Lily Mayko placed eighth in 19:58 to wrap-up the scoring positions for the Pride.
Sophomore
Marissa Cadieux was 10
th in a time of 19:59 and classmate
Alli Bacher placed 13
th in 20:47 to round out the Hofstra placing positions. Hofstra junior
Capri Pappalardo was 24
th in 22:38 while newcomer MacKenzie Orr was 27
th in 23:00.
Scored as individual dual meets, Hofstra defeated Wagner, 18-39; topped NJIT, 16-45; and ran by St. Peter's, 15-50. If scored as meet with all four Division I teams, Hofstra finished with 19 points, Wagner was second with 48 points, NJIT was third with 63 points and St. Peter's was fourth with 110 points.
The Hofstra team returns to action on Saturday, October 15 when they travel back into New Jersey for the Princeton Invitational.
