Jack Finlayson led the Hofstra Men's Cross Country team at the 2016 Colonial Athletic Association Cross Country Championship at the White Clay Creek State Park Saturday morning.
Finlayson led the Pride for the second time this season with an 8K time of 27:04 to finish 29th overall and garner 22 points for the team. Classmate
Riley Leder finished 35th (26 pts.) in 27:16 while junior
Alan Hetherington was 41st (30 pts.) in 27:43. Juniors
Rodney Chirchir (33 pts.) and
Austin Jenkins (34 pts.) placed 46th and 47th, respectively. Chirchir posted a time of 28:24 while Jenkins clocked a time of 28:32. Senior
Michael Simon rounded out the Pride roster, placing 49th (36 pts.) in 29:02.
As a team, the Hofstra men finished in sixth-place with 145 points. The College of William & Mary, which placed all seven of its runners in the top 11, won its 17th consecutive Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men's Cross Country Championship with 26 points. Northeastern finished second with 46 points with Elon third with 84 points. The College of Charleston was fourth with 123 points and UNCW was fifth with 143 points. Elon University's Nick Ciolkowski defended his CAA individual title in a time of 25:08.10.
The Hofstra Men's Cross Country team will be back in action on November 11 when they compete in the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, NY.
