Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Field Hockey team will be looking for two home Colonial Athletic Association victories that will propel them into the conference championship as the regular season comes to a close this weekend.
The Pride (9-8, 1-3) will host the Dukes of James Madison (11-5, 3-2) on Friday, October 28 at 3 p.m. and the Tribe of William and Mary (8-8, 4-1) on Sunday, October 30 at noon. Both games are at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium. Hofstra will provide live stats and audio of both games with links found on this page as well as on GoHofstra.com.
Hofstra is coming off two losses in Philadelphia last weekend, falling to Drexel, 4-3 in a CAA game last Friday and to Saint Joseph's, 5-3 in a non-conference game on Sunday. In a key loss to the Dragons, senior

Claudia Marin Samper broke the tie and broke the school record for career points, passing Genna Kovar's (148 points from 2008-11) mark of 148 in the 43
rd minute. But the Hawks scored three unanswered goals to post the 5-3 victory.
Hofstra, which enters the weekend on a four-game losing skid, averages 3.18 goals per game and allows 3.00 per outing. Marin Samper, who now has 56 goals, just one from tying Kovar for the career mark, and 38 assists for 150 points in her career, leads the Pride in scoring this season with 18 goals and 12 assists for 48 points. Schoen, who ranks third in career assists (26), fifth in points (118) and seventh in goals (46), is second in scoring with 13 goals and six assists for 32 points. Sophomore
Madison Sauve has added five goals and five assists and senior
Carissa Witmer has chipped in with five goals and four assists. Senior
Lauren Saltus has been in the Pride goal in 15 games and has a 2.59 goals against average with 64 saves and a .674 save percentage. She is 8-4 on the season.
The Dukes of James Madison (11-5, 3-2) come to Hempstead this week on a two-game losing skid after losses to William and Mary (4-3 in OT) and Louisville (4-2) at home last weekend. JMU has wins over Liberty (3-2), Longwood (6-2), Appalachian State (5-1), New Hampshire (5-2), Old Dominion (2-1), VCU (4-3 in OT), Towson (12-0), Northeastern (3-2), Drexel (5-2), Richmond (3-1) and Lafayette (3-1). Their losses have come against American (2-1), Duke (7-1), Delaware (1-0), William and Mary and Louisville. The Dukes average 3.62 goals per game and allow 2.19 per contest.
JMU is led in scoring by sophomore Miranda Rigg with 16 goals while junior Hannah Hall has 10 goals and a team-high nine assists. Sophomore Ashley Gippe has contributed nine goals and two assists. Junior Sara Kraeutler has a 2.20 goals against average with 59 saves and a .634 save percentage in 16 games in the Dukes goal this season.
Friday's contest against James Madison will be the 17
th meeting between the Pride and the Dukes. JMU holds a 12-4 series advantage and has won the last five meetings. Last year, the Dukes defeated the Pride in Harrisonburg, 8-1.
The Tribe of William and Mary (8-8, 4-1), who will play at Fairfield on Friday before coming to Hofstra on Sunday for Senior Day, enter the week on a two-game winning streak after victories over James Madison and VCU on the road last weekend. William and Mary has wins over Georgetown (6-2), Richmond (3-0), Davidson (3-2 in penalty strokes), Towson (8-1), Northeastern (3-1), Drexel (2-1), James Madison (4-3 in OT) and VCU (5-4). Their losses have come against Duke (8-4), American (3-0), Rutgers (2-1), Old Dominion (2-1), Liberty (3-2), Delaware (3-2 in OT), Virginia (3-2) and Wake Forest (3-1). The Tribe average 2.88 goals per games and allow an average of 2.56 per outing.
William and Mary is led by a junior trio headed by Cammie Lloyd with 13 goals and six assists for 32 points. Emma MacLeod has added seven goals while Estelle Hughes has contributed four goals and three assists. Freshman Morgan Connor takes care of the goalie duties for the Tribe and has a 2.47 goals against average with 78 saves and a .652 save percentage.
Sunday's contest will be the 19
th meeting between the Pride and the Tribe. William and Mary holds an 11-7 series lead. The two teams met last season in Williamsburg with the Pride winning 3-2. The Hofstra win snapped a three-game Tribe winning streak in the series.
Prior to Sunday's contest, at approximately 11:00 a.m. weather permitting, Hofstra will salute its 10 graduating seniors on the occasion of their final home game. Nine of the 10 seniors have spent all four years at Hofstra with the tenth, two-year co-captain
