SB: Galati To Be Inducted Into NYSHS Softball Hall Of Fame

Hempstead, N.Y. – Former Hofstra Softball All-America pitcher Olivia Galati will be inducted into the New York State High School Softball Hall of Fame on June 20.

Galati is one of just 16 people set to be inducted. The former St. John the Baptist standout is the only representative from the CHSAA conference. The ceremony will take place in Herkimer, New York with retired Hofstra Softball head coach Bill Edwards presenting Galati before her induction.

Former Hofstra assistant coach and current Adelphi head coach Breanne Nasti will also be inducted. Nasti was a coach on Edwards' staff in 2005 in which the Pride went 43-16-1, won the Colonial Athletic Association championship and earned a berth in the NCAA Regionals in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Galati, who pitched for Hofstra from 2010-13, was the first-ever first-team All-America selection in Hofstra Softball history in 2012 and followed that effort up with second-team honors as a senior in 2013. A two-time NFCA National Player of the Week (and the first player in program history to earn even one of those awards), she is a four-time NFCA All-Northeast Region first team selection and won four Colonial Athletic Association Pitcher of the Year honors. She finished her career with a 129-34 record and 1,410 strikeouts.

The West Babylon, New York native registered 12 no-hitters and five perfect games in her career for Hofstra in leading the Pride to three CAA championships and NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Super Regional finish in 2012.
