Brittain Altomare is gaining national attention as the Pride's leading scorer was added to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, it was announced today.
The Tewaaraton Foundation has announced the first round of additions to the 2015 Tewaaraton Award Men's and Women's Watch Lists, presented by Under Armour. The lists include the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlight the early contenders for the Tewaaraton Award, which will be announced May 28 in Washington, D.C.
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are comprised of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
Altomare has led Hofstra to a 7-4 overall record and a perfect 2-0 mark in Colonial Athletic Association play this season. The Pride's difficult schedule this season has seen Hofstra play four ranked opponents so far.
This season Altomare has posted 59 points on 28 goals and 31 assists. She also has 65 draw controls and seven ground balls. Altomare leads Hofstra in goals, assists, points and draw controls. In addition, she has scored at least a point in an astounding 48 consecutive games. The 65 draw controls are already a new single season school record.
Altomare has had a stellar career for the Pride, compiling 107 goals, 118 assists, 225 points and 172 draw controls. She is the program's all-time leader in assists and draw controls and she ranks second in program history in points and seventh in goals.
Nationally speaking, Altomare is second in points per game (5.36) and assists per game (2.82), third in assists, fourth in points and seven in draw controls per game (5.91).
She leads the CAA in assists per game, points per game and draw controls per game, while ranking third in goals per game.
