Hempstead, NY – The spectacular senior season of attacker
Brittain Altomare continued today as she was named the Inside Lacrosse/IL Women Select Sector SPDR national Co-Player of the Week for the second time this season after leading the Hofstra Women's Lacrosse team to a pair of wins last week.
It marks the second time this season that Altomare has earned the national honor from Inside Lacrosse/IL Women as she was the player of the week on February 16 as well.
She shared this week's award with Cortney Fortunato of Notre Dame.
Hofstra (7-4, 2-0 CAA) picked up wins over #15 (Inside Lacrosse) James Madison on Friday before ending the week with a victory over William & Mary on Sunday. Both wins were by identical 13-8 scores.
Altomare had another outstanding week as she continues to carry the Pride offensively. She keyed the huge win to open CAA play as she posted a game-high five points on four goals and one assist, while also tallying six draw controls against the Dukes. In addition to the point total being good for game-high honors, she also led all players in the contest in goals and draw controls. She would follow that contest up with another strong game as she had eight draw controls, two goals and two assists in the 13-8 win over William & Mary on Sunday. She led all players in draw controls in that game as well. For the week she had six goals and three assists for nine points, while also adding 14 draw controls. She scored the game-winner in the huge win on Friday. This season, Altomare has team-highs of 28 goals, 31 assists, 59 points and 65 draw controls. Her 65 draw controls are now a single season record, breaking the mark of 64 set by
April Iannetta last season. Altomare has scored at least a point in 48 straight games.
Hofstra is back on the field on Friday at 5 p.m.when it heads to Newark, Delaware to face the Blue Hens.
