MGOLF: Hofstra, Shin Finish Second At Finegan Invitational

Elverson, PA - Brandon Shin shot a final round 71 (+1) and finished as the runner-up at 141 (+1) at the Finegan Invitational hosted by La Salle at the Stonewall Golf Club North Course. The Pride finished in a tie for second place with Wagner, but was declared the runner-up based on the tiebreaking procedure.

The Pride compiled a two-round score of 582 (+22) following scores of 296 (+16) and 286 (+6). Based on the score of the fifth player today on both teams, Sean Cavanaugh for Hofstra and Matt Kraus for Wagner, Hofstra finished second. Cavanaugh shot a 76 for the Pride to edge Kraus, who fired a 78. The second place finish was Hofstra's third of the season.

In addition to Shin's second place finish, David Won tied for seventh place in the 63-player field with a 144 (+4). Won shot a team-best 69 (-1) today. David Mecca tied for 20th at 149 (+9) and cut seven strokes off his first round score with a final round 71 (+1). Cavanaugh and Johnson Ko tied for 31st at 151 (+11). Ko shot 75 (+5) in his final round, while Cavanaugh was six-over at 76.

Lafayette won the 12-team event at 570 (+10) and the Leopards' Art Griffin was the individual medalist at 136 (-4).

Hofstra closes out the 2014-15 season this weekend at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship at St. James Plantation in Southport, North Carolina.
