Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Men's Lacrosse team heads south for their second road contest of the season this Saturday, February 28 when the Pride travel to Washington, D.C. to face the Hoyas of Georgetown University. Game time at Multi-Sport Field is 12 p.m.
Pride Productions will have live audio beginning with the pregame show at 11:45 a.m. Julian Coltre and Anthony Santaniello will have the call for the radio broadcast on WRHU-FM (88.7). Hofstra is coming off an 18-0 shutout of the Jaspers of Manhattan College at James M. Shuart Stadium this past Tuesday evening. It was the Pride's first shutout in 45 years, since a 27-0 victory over CCNY in 1970. The whitewash was also the 10th shutout in Hofstra history and the first in Division I since Johns Hopkins blanked Manhattan, 11-0 on March 6, 2012.

Sam Llinares tallied career-highs of six goals and eight points to lead the Pride over Manhattan. His six goals topped his previous best of four against Sacred Heart in 2013 while the eight points bested his previous mark of seven set at Princeton last Saturday. Included in his eight points against the Jaspers was the 100th point of his Hofstra career. He now has 50 goals and 54 assists in 32 games.

Kris Clarke each posted a goal and an assist for the Pride. Hofstra had 11 players score goals and 14 players record points against Manhattan.

Chris Selva, who played just three quarters against Manhattan, lowered his goals against average to 9.09 and boosted his save percentage to .479.
The Hoyas of Georgetown enter Saturday's game against Hofstra with a 0-2 record with losses to Notre Dame (14-12) and to CAA-member Towson (9-6) last Sunday.
Georgetown is coming off the 9-6 loss to the Tigers of Towson in a contest that was moved from last Saturday to Sunday. Towson jumped out to an 8-1 lead at halftime and staved off a second-half rally attempt by the Hoyas for the victory. Georgetown freshman midfielder Craig Berge had one goal and one assist and picked up four ground balls, to lead six different GU goal scorers. Graduate student Gabriel Mendola struggled in the first quarter, but won 10-of-11 face-offs after the first quarter to finish 12-of-18. The Hoyas outshot the Tigers, 40-30 including 24-6 in the second half, and picked up 31 ground balls to Towson's 26.
The Hoyas have scored 18 goals in two games this season while allowing 23. Georgetown is led in scoring by senior attackman Bo Stafford with five goals and one assist. Sophomore midfielder Devon Lewis and freshman attack Stephen Quinzi have each added three goals and one assist. Senior goalie Nick Marrocco has recorded an 11.50 goals against average and 17 saves with a .425 save percentage.
Saturday's game is the sixth meeting between Hofstra and Georgetown. The Hoyas lead the series, 3-2. The two teams met last on March 1, 2014 in Hempstead with the Pride recording a 9-8 overtime victory over the Hoyas.
