Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra Field Hockey team, riding an eight-game winning streak that has boosted their record to 10-3 on the year, begins their Colonial Athletic Association season this weekend with a pair of games at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium.
The Pride (10-3, 0-0) will host the 13th-ranked Blue Hens of Delaware (10-2, 1-1) on Friday, October 9 at 3 p.m. before taking on the Towson Tigers (2-10, 0-2) on Sunday, October 11 at 1 p.m. Hofstra will provide access to
live statistics of both games and live audio will also be available through
Pride Productions.Hofstra is coming off a 9-1 victory over Sacred Heart last Friday at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium and a 4-3 win at Columbia on Sunday.

Carys Swan made seven saves including five in the second half for the victory.
After 13 games this season, Hofstra continues to be led in scoring by Marin Samper, the current CAA Player of the Week, with 15 goals and 10 assists.

Simca Schoen has added seven goals and seven assists. Junior co-captain
Colby Hussong has six goals and three assists. Swan has a 2.14 goals against average with 55 saves and a .679 save percentage.

The 13th-ranked Blue Hens of Delaware are 10-2 overall and 1-1 in the CAA. UD is coming off a 2-1 overtime loss at home to 18th-ranked James Madison last Sunday. The Blue Hens have wins over Central Michigan (10-3), Michigan State (3-1), Fairfield (4-1), Cornell (5-0), Temple (7-4), Princeton (4-3), Bucknell (5-3), Pacific (1-0), Richmond (3-2) and William and Mary (4-0). In addition to James Madison, Delaware dropped a 5-1 decision to fourth-ranked Duke.

The Blue Hens average 4.00 goals per game and allow 2.00 per outing this season. Like Hofstra, Delaware is led by a European trio headed by Dutch freshman Lisa Giezeman with nine goals and two assists. German senior Michaela Patzner has seven goals and six assists while Dutch junior Esmee Peet has chipped in seven goals and two assists. The Blue Hens have 13 players who have scored at least one goal this season. Dutch sophomore goalie Emmeline Oltmans has a 1.97 goals against average with 34 saves and a .586 save percentage in 12 games this season.

Delaware holds a 21-7 series advantage over Hofstra but the two teams have split the last four meetings. The Pride defeated the Blue Hens, 5-2 in Newark last season.

The Tigers of Towson are 2-10 overall and 0-2 in the CAA this season. The Tigers have wins over Lehigh (4-2) and Georgetown (2-1 in OT) and losses to St. Joseph's (5-1), Temple (9-0), St. Francis (4-0), Lock Haven (5-1), Longwood (2-1), Rider (4-2), Monmouth (3-1), Villanova (5-1), James Madison (3-1) and William and Mary (2-0).

The Tigers have scored 14 goals and allowed 45 this season. Towson is led in scoring by senior Stacey Mackintosh and junior Morgan Skavdahl with three goals each. Senior Heather Jenney has added two goals and two assists. The Tigers have utilized two goalies this season as junior Megan Boyle has a 32.6 goals against average with 68 saves and a .739 save percentage while starting seven games. Sophomore Emilee Woodall has a 4.43 goals against average with 41 saves and a .661 save percentage in five starts,
